The Story Of Sketch To Animate

Many people often ask: What is the significance of having an octopus as Sketchtoanimate’s logo? Well besides this critter being one of the smartest in the underwater oceans of our world. This small Cephalopod is a symbolic reminder of the 8 beats to constructing a story. So what better way to explain this further, then to tell you the Tale of a little octopus named Cato.
Once upon a time...
In a remote crevice at the bottom of the Puget Sound in the Pacific Northwest, amongst 50, 000 of his brothers and sisters, there bounced around a very tiny overly energetic octopus named Cato.
And Every Day…
Cato would grab the attention of his brothers and sisters who were in awe of his wildly endless imagination and every story he would sketch out. Cato would draw on whatever his tiny tentacles could reach. His animated tentacles would gesture and quickly produce eight story boards at a time. Not only was he prolific, Cato could also tell the tallest of tales with all the surprise reveals of his imagination.
Until one day…
When it was finally time to leave his home of the deepest crevices, his mother lovingly sent him off on his journey with a new sketchbook. Cato swam out into the vast uncharted ocean world, overjoyed with the possibility of sharing his stories to whomever he splashed across.
Because of this…
He made fast friends easily and captured the heart of every aquatic sea critter wherever he went. Cato’s stories evolved and grew with each new being he encountered and with every new or repeated experience he gained a deeper passion for gathering and sharing his thoughts and observations of the world and each creature. He began to understand what he needed to do.
Because of that...
He made his mission to inspire and teach others how to visualize and share their stories as well.
Because of this…
Word spread fast about this energetic octopus who captured the hearts of many. Cato even gained respect and admiration from those who otherwise might have made him into a meal.
Until finally...
Cato’s once solo act became a growing community of aquatic storytellers. Inspiration and a passion to share each other’s stories spread from one sea critter to the next. Soon every body of water, fresh or salt, was overflowing with endless stories inspired by one small octopus named Cato.
And ever since then...
If you let the stars guide you and listen quietly to the bubbling tales of the Ocean, you will catch a glimpse of bright eyed Cato just where the water meets the air. Are you that lucky sailor into whose boat Cato will climb? As you stare in amazement Cato will waste no time as he reveals his sketchbook and begins telling you his tales from the sea…
